June 2009, a 79 year old driver, Andrew Cavanaugh, was driving his car through an intersection in Pinellas County, Florida. The posted speed limit is 25 mph, but the red lights were timed for passing through the intersection at 30 mph. |
In other words, just before the lights turn orange, you can safely cross the four lanes at 30 mph before the opposite lights turns green.

|Motorcycle taxis in France are finally better regulated. |
Starting on the 1st of April, 2011, motorcycle taxis will require several certificate & papers (medical, maintenance, professional cards, etc), that are delivered by the local government.
Hopefully, this will sort out the cowboys from the serious operators, and make the motorcycle taxi more "accepted".

|Just back from the Dakar, and Cyril Despres is already competing this weekend. And what a competition he racing in... he's racing in world's toughest motorcycle beach race, the Le Touquet Enduropale. |
1100 motorcycles (800 quads) racing around like crazy for 3 hours in freezing temperature. Despres has won the holeshot in the past with a special motorcycle, but this year, he's going to compete for the whole distance.

|Poland, in a wise move, has raised speed limits for cars and motorcycles on their motorways to 140 kph (from 130). On normal dual carriage ways, the speed limit was raised by 10 kph as well, to 120 kph. |
What's more interesting, is that the Polish government has stated that you are allowed to speed by 10 kph without being ticketed, in other words, you are allowed to ride 150 kph. But at 151 the ticketometer starts running.

|One of the biggest motorcycle museums in Europe has reopened its doors in Germany. Located inside a spectacular 16th century castle, not only can you see some of the oldest motorcycles in the world, but you can also stay in the castle, and eat in one of its two restaurants. |
This area of Germany has 10 castles in its immediate vicinity, plus many hotels and hostels, and the scenery is to die for.

|15 January, 2011 - Dakar 2011: KTM Celebrates Fantastic 10th Consecutive Victory|
|It's over for another year! The Dakar finished today in style, with Dutchman Frans Verhoeven winning the final stage. |
Poor Chilean rider, Chaleco, who was in a good overall third position, broke his motorcycle, and is no longer on the podium.
Marc Coma wins his third Dakar, and Cyril Despres ends in 2nd overall. Helder Rodrigues on his Yamaha finished 3rd.
KTM's dominance in rally races has remained untouched, despite the 450cc rule. 8 KTMs made it to the top 10. One Yamaha and one Honda make up the rest of the top 10.

Stage 10 was tough, specially for last year's winner, who lost a good 7 minutes on Coma. Faria, on his KTM came in 3rd.

|This is a first! On one of the toughest (and biggest) beach motorcycles races in the world, the French Le Touquet Enduropale, with 1,000 motorcycles racing on a 17.8 kilometer beach circuit, one of them will be an electric motorcycle. |
A Zero MX electric motorcycle will be raced in this 3 hours race by Thibault Veuillet from the Craze-Team. The electric charge should last for one lap, so he'll need to come in every lap to swap batteries, but the bike itself should be very fast over the sand.
The race will be held the end of the month.
