Dakar Rally 2007 Stage 10: January 16th, Néma - Néma
Liaison : 10 km - Special : 366 km - Liaison : 24 km
Total : 400 km.
THIERRY BETHYS TAKES EQUAL SIXTH IN THE DAKAR RALLY STAGE CLASSIFICATION!
For security reasons, the organisers cancelled the special stage between Néma and Timbuktu and replaced it with a 400km loop stage on twisty and sandy tracks around the bivouac. Thierry Bethys enjoyed an excellent stage time and finished second in the 450cc category and sixth overall on the stage.

THIERRY BETHYS (FRANCE) N°85 : « I am very happy with my stage, but I had a small fall… nothing too serious but it was good in the sense that it made me ride a little calmer... I requested that the organisers gave me back the 15 minutes that I lost yesterday at the scene of Giovanni Sala’s accident and that enabled me to retake some time on Marchini, who is second in the 450cc category, a little over quarter of an hour in front of me. »
PAULO CONCALVEZ (PORTUGAL) N°33 : « This was a good stage for me and I finished 12th ! I caught up some time on some of the first riders and I hope to continue in this way as far as Dakar. »
HENK KNUIMAN (BELGIUM) N°11 : « In a corner, I fell and I twisted my left thumb… It was like a Bobsleigh track…fast, easy but without navigation and not of great interest. It was fast and so dangerous. »

GREGOIRE BLONDEL (FRANCE) N°83 : « The track was excellent for the cars but not for the bikes. There were too many corners, it was slippery and I was not too amused ! »

THOMAS DE BOIS (HOLLAND) N°173 : « I found that it was a difficult special stage with a lot of very fine sand, like fesh-fesh. It demanded a lot of concentration because the bike dipped often at the front. But I am here, in Néma,and I am happy! »
