The Dutch have produced a diesel motorcycle based on the Smart car engine (the joint venture between Mercedes and Swatch watch) used for the FourTwo car. The T-800CDI is an 800 cc, 3 cylinder, turbo diesel engine, that not only uses diesel fuel, but also bio-fuel and/or PPO (Pure Plant Oil). The motorcycle respects the Euro-4 standard. The engine, with its 50 HP (120Nm), will give you 40 kms on 1 liter, or 2.5 liters for 100 kilometers. Top speed is about 185 kph, and 0-100 is accomplished in 6.5 seconds. The diesel engine uses a PDA/MDA for the engine management. The PDA/MDA is used amongst others to adjust the torque. The rear wheel is driven via a shaft drive. There are 6 gears in the gearbox. The seat (height between 780 and 900 mm) and footrests are ergonomic, and the handlebars can be positioned between 70 and 120mm. The headlights are powered by LEDs. 2-Wheel Drive Option You can purchase an optional 2 Wheel Drive for this incredible motorcycle. Using hydraulics, the front wheel can give you that extra grip when you're stuck in the deep sands of the Sahara. If you are really stuck in the sand, an optional desert-sand lifting device can be attached, permitting you to get your motorcycle out with the least effort. Boy, would those Dakar riders like to have one of these. Dimensions The whole motorcycle weights 214 kg dry, with a length of 2,450 mm. There is a 15 liter gas tank, and optionally you can get a 50 liter one (enough to get you round the world I guess...). Price: €17,500 including tax and a full tank of gas (the first 25 will be sold for €16600). However, the first 50 units will only be sold in The Netherlands. So, if you're interested in this adventure motorcycle, that can run on cabbage... head over to their website. This is truly an amazing motorcycle, ecological, robust, it will allow you to go anywhere. Click here for the English version site. Click here for the Dutch version site (including videos).
