Le Touquet Enduropale 2007 Photos
Photos of the Le Touquet Enduropale motorcycle beach enduro are available ! There are some 950 photos available, and can be seen, downloaded and/or purchased. Click here to access the photo site. | As you would expect, there was a lot of Police presence here. 5 CRS companies were present (CRS are the riot police), 60 motorcycles officers (of which 25 off-road), 65 gendarmes and 300 police officers (plus 160 firemen, 75 private security guards, 180 race marshals and 200 general purpose stewards). The most interesting Police motorcycle was this one. It's the brand new BMW HP2 Enduro motorcycle. It's not a motorcycle you would see Police use, but as Bruno Jarno (above in the photo) explained, "The National Police are trying out the HP2 as one of their future off-road Police enforcement motorcycles". Bruno should know, since he runs the National Police Academy for Police Motorcycle Officers ! He also has 2 of his lads running in the Le Touquet Enduro. The remaining motorcycles used to patrol the dunes are Yamaha, however, they have more BMW 650's then Yamahas back in their office. Everyone of Bruno's Officers (they are all trainers/instructors) had a go at the HP2. They came back from a run over the beach, running at over 150 kph. They loved the motorcycle ! The remaining of the Police Motorcycles were BMW RTs and Yamaha 1300FJRs. Having these guys directing traffic is great when you arrive on a motorcycle, since they'll let you do things that their car-based counterparts would not allow (like going over sidewalks, or into one way streets). This HAS got to be the ultimate way of travelling through the dunes and on the beach. Far less physical, and easier... ;-) This is the Police Mobile Command Post.
