This is too good to be true !! The new, fully automatic, digital radar at Bessay-sur-Allier in France was shutdown by the electricity company (EDF) due to the fact that the company operating the radars for the state forgot to pay their electricity bill !! The radar was one of the more "profitable" radars in the region, catching 7800 drivers in their first 6 weeks of operation. Why did this happen ?? The state department that specifies the location for the radars, places the radar and then hands it over to the, privately held, operating company (Atos - they receive 2% of each fine). Atos forgot to pay the electricity bill. So the electricity company only turned back the juice AFTER the bill was paid in full (15 days). I sincerely hope they fined the operating company. JUSTICE !!
