USA based insurance company, Progressive, have compiled a report on motorcycle theft and crash/collision statistics. Some of the results are most surprising and interesting.

The city where your motorcycle is most likely to be stolen ? Interesting question, and the logical response would be along the lines of Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit or any big city. But the answer is Honolulu, Hawaii !! What bothers me with that response is why anyone would steal a motorcycle on a small island ???? That's almost like stealing your neighbor's motorcycle and putting it on your driveway...

For crashes the answer is more in-line with logic. The city where you are most likely to have a motorcycle crash is New York!

So here are the results:

1.        New York, N.Y.-N.J.

7.        Los Angeles-Long Beach, Calif.
8.        Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Fla.
9.        New Orleans, La.
10.        Norfolk-Virginia Beach- Portsmouth, Va.-N.C.

Top 10 Least Likely To Be Stolen (Population > 500.000)

1.        Grand Rapids, Mich.
2.        Harrisburg, Pa.
3.        Syracuse, N.Y.
4.        Albany-Schenectady-Troy, N.Y.
5.        Lansing-East Lansing, Mich.

7.        Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.
8.        Milwaukee, Wis.

So, looking at the Top 10 statistics, I'd say the most dangerous place to ride your motorcycle is New York. You stand a good chance of a crash, and then they steal your motorcycle. Boy, you folks out there must be paying a fortune on insurance. Better move to Cincinnati....
