The number of females who have gone from riding pillion to riding the bike in the US, has risen significantly between 1998 and 2003. To be exact, there were 36% more female riders, totalling 635,000 riders today (from 467,400 in 1998). Harley-Davidson have stated that the number of ladies riding their brand motorcycles has risen from 600 motorcycles in 1980 to 30,000 in 2005.
