Codever, the organization that is fighting to keep our rights to ride our motorcycle off road in France (the greenies and politicians are complotting to revoke that right), are planning a massive protest ride all over France on the 18th of March. The interesting thing is that it's not only motorcycles that will take part; 4x4 cars, horse riders, off road bicycles and quads will all be affected by the proposed laws. It would be illegal to ride your motorcycle off-road, anywhere in France, except in official circuits. This applies to all off-road vehicles, including horses! Protests are planned in the cities of Perigueux, Agen, Clermont-Ferrand, Le Puy, Dijon, Orleans, Reims, la Rochelle, Montbeliard, Limoges, Pau, Montauban, Toulouse, Compiegne, Rodez, Le Mans, Aix, Nice, Nancy, Nantes and Lyon. During the protest ride, the vehicles will be riding through the cities at 20 kph, thereby blocking all traffic. The objective is to end at a symbolic point, usually the local government office (prefecture), and hold speeches and distribute pamphlets. The protest is supported by many off-road champions, notably Luc Alphand (winner Dakar 2006) and Hubert Auriol. Let's hope there are many protesters that will go to one of the rides, and that the government pays attention. Maybe a 2nd revolution is in order.
