It's not a trivial issue, since I know I've suffered the same. Many motorcycle riders have more than one key on their motorcycle key chain; ignition, lock and maybe the luggage locks. The keys are often loose, and will damage your motorcycle console. In fact, my first BMW R1150GS's console had so many marks on them, you couldn't even distinguish its original color.
