The UK Stoke Mandeville hospital??? Who's ever even heard of that place? What a crock. In Southern California almost every weekend the ambulance is dragging some sport biker off to the hospital. At my ranch we rarely see serious injuries from the horses and riders. Let's get serious.

Twink, do a Google on the hospital... they're UK's leading spinal cord hospital. You've got to look at ratio's, not the numbers. There are a hell of a lot more motorcycle riders than that there are horse riders. Of course there will be more motorcycle accidents. But at the end, it's the accident ratio's that count.

Motorcycles don't have a mind of their own and deliberately try to injure their riders (wiht the possible exception of old Kawasaki two-stroke triples. There is also an assumption that horses are 'safe" for kids - not so, as anyone who has had anything to do with them knows.
