It had to happen ! After BMW losing the French police contract to Yamaha {link}, the famous French Gendarmerie must have started liking high speeds. They have recently signed an agreement with Kawasaki for the supply of some 50 Kawasaki ZZR 1400 for their Fast Interception Brigade.
"Fast interception" is a well chosen name, since the 190 hp motorcycle has had its delimiters removed and can now travel at speeds of over 315 kph/ 195 mph (tested!). The Gendarmerie plans to use the supersport motorcycle on the autoroutes chasing high speed bandits. The motorcycle cops will receive a further intensive training on high speed riding !
The word on the street is that the Gendarmerie is inundated with applications to join the special brigade...if you can't beat them, join them...
