Those that have been reading my articles regularly will know that I'm a big fan of adventurer motorcycling. Going to far away places on your motorcycle is one of the biggest pleasures I have. Discovering our very big planet, meeting people, witnessing their different cultures is what makes the earth tick and seeing it with my own eyes is often a revelation. And here I was thinking that I've seen a lot, and travelled a lot ! But it's nothing, absolutely nothing compared to Emilio Scotto. Borne in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Emilio holds the Guinness World Record of the longest distance travelled by motorcycle. And he's got it by a very wide margin. Emilio travelled on his Honda Goldwing 735,000 km (457,000 miles), through 214 countries and territories, starting on 17 January, 1985 to 2nd of April, 1995. He has had many adventures, arrested for spying, imprisoned six times, encountered cannibals and contracted malaria. Click here to access Emilio's website (many incredible photos and articles).
