With the Presidential elections coming up this weekend (there have been plenty of successful motorcycle protests over the last few weeks), the French motorcycle magazine, Moto Journal, has asked what the top issues where for bikers in France. The main issues have been reported on frequently (remove the 100 hp limitation, legalize lane splitting, allow the use of bus lanes, use speeding fines from the digital radars to maintain roads), but a few novel ideas were generated: - More circuits at lower admission prices
- Free autoroutes for novice riders (A-plates)
- Skid-free paint on roads
- 5.5% VAT on all motorcycle safety equipment (helmets)
- Reduce taxes on European motorcycles
- Allow motorcycles to ride 140 kph on the autoroute fast lanes (cars still need to drive at 130 kph) (dream on)
Interesting. Some are too far fetched and will never see the light of day, but some just may, depending on who wins. So, who knows what will happen. Personally, I don't think there will be one difference who wins.. bikers will always be screwed, no matter if it's the far left, far right or center party who wins.. we're doomed! I think the best thing to do is contact the WWF and declare bikers are an endangered species.
