Here's an interesting product for all of you who are interested in Bluetooth technology, but don't want to spend a lot of money buying a new motorcycle helmet with integrated Bluetooth. The folks at Cardo Wireless Systems have just released the Scala Rider. This unit is a fully fledged Bluetooth communication device designed for motorcycles. The Scala Rider can be hooked up to any helmet, giving you the ability to make and receive phone call from any Bluetooth equipped cellular telephone. The battery will give you about 7 hours talking time, or 1 week on standby. By using a simple clamp, not screws or glue, the Scala Rider is attached to your helmet in less than 5 minutes. The microphone uses AVA Technology, something that automatically adjusts the speaker volume according to the noise & speed level your motorcycle is riding at. What's more, there are other options to this gadget! You can fit the unit with a FM Radio with multiple station memory, and a remote control that can be fixed on your handle-bar. Price for the basic Scala Rider Bluetooth unit is 149.95 USD. Prices for the FM radio and remote control are still to be announced. The units should be available by June 1st. NOTE: You can't use this device as intercom, but according to Cardo, that will be an option in the nearby future.
