There seem to be more and more GPS tracking devices hitting the market allowing you to know where your motorcycle is. With GPSs getting smaller and cheaper, they'll fit almost anywhere.
The OnTrak is a UK specific device, and can be put anywhere (motorcycle, car, boat, water-ski, etc). Once fitted, you can call the device, hang up, and then the unit sends you via SMS the Lon/Lat coordinates of the device, plus the closest motorway and speed.
OnTrak are currently working on a new version which will send you the actual street and number.
It's probably a simple and cheap way of finding out where your motorcycle is. It can also be used for the ones who are at home, to see where you are. But I guess private investigators could use it quite simply to tail a vehicle....
Cost: £199.99. Once the new unit is finished, you can upgrade for £150.
The unit currently only works in the UK (for location specific information).

and i dare say that if you are involved in an accident, your insurance company can acces the device to tell if you were speeding, even just one mile an hour over the speed limit, and they can refuse any insurance payout, likwise with the police. sorry if i sound cynical but i do live in the UK and this is what it,s like here.

Not really, since it doesn't record data. It just replies to queries from the phone, so unless the insurance company is continuously sending requests, they'll never know.

We currently have a bike tracker that tells you exactly where your bike is, true street address not lat & long. You can access it via the web and see where your bike is on Virtual Earth mapping, ring fence it so that if your bike leaves a specific area you receive a text and / or email alert telling you your bike has been stolen and where it currently is. At £ 299 pus VAT decide for yourself !
