In January, a couple of very lucky journalists were invited by Yamaha France to fly to Morocco to try the new 2 wheel drive Yamaha WR450F 2-Trac motorcycle {Link}.
Yamaha had put at their disposal standard WR450's and the 2 wheel drive variant, so that the journalists could swap around and compare single and dual drive motorcycles.
The journalists were able to ride the motorcycles in the desert, dunes and tarmac. The only thing they were not able to do is ride the motorcycles on wet roads.
I don't think there are any who don't like the 2 Wheel drive motorcycles. There are some limitation, some obvious, such as the added weight at the front wheel. But all-in-all, it's a great motorcycle, in the sand or on the road.
There's very little doubt in peoples minds that we'll see the Yamaha WR450F 2-Trac in the next Paris-Dakar, but this time in the front (although they did win the 450 cc event).
