OK, not really a motorcycle product (it's meant for cyclists), but nevertheless, it can be used by bikers. Imagine yourself riding your motorcycle, minding your own business, when suddenly you're stuck in a storm, or a fog. Visibility, specially at night, is down to several meters. A typical nightmare situation for motorcyclists.... Here's where the StrideLite from Bright-Night USA is going to come in handy. The StrideLite is just like any reflective cycling jacket, it's plastic, thin and reflective. You should be able to slip this over your motorcycle gear, specially useful when raining. The jacket will reflect lights from cars around you. So far, nothing unusual. But what's interesting, is that you can flick a switch, and your jacket become a strobe light !! The StrideLite has a 24-micon-thin (that's VERY thin) electroluminescent lamps built-in around the jacket (360°). They weight next to nothing and have a 20,000 hour life span (probably more than your bike). The light emitted is blue, not white. The intense light flashes on every 1/2 second, and can be seen at 1/2 mile (600 meters) distance. The 2 triple A batteries will last some 300 hours before your need to change them. StrideLite also produce belts ($32), umbrellas ($38) and other jackets that have the same strobe lights built-in. Price: Between $150 and $190 Click here to access their website, and see the flashing effect of the jacket. (Thanks Greg L.)
