Italian MotoGP supremo, Valentino Rossi, won the "Spirit of Sport" category of the prestigious Laureus Awards. This is quite an honor considering the nominees are in all sports disciplines, all nationalities and all genders. It means that MotoGP is seen as a top sport (as it should be), deserving recognition. It also shows that Rossi has been a great ambassador for the sport. Rossi not only won that award, he was nominated (for the 3rd time) as Sportsman of the Year, but lost out to Swiss tennis player Roger Federer. Can you imagine.... a biker won one of the top prizes !! The award was presented by Giacomo Agostini, the very first world champion. Teri Hatcher and Cuba Gooding Jr. hosted the event.
