On the 8th of October last year I wrote about the promising Reevu Motorcycle Helmets fitted with an integral mirror system ({link}). It looks like you can now buy these helmets! It would appear that the helmets are manufactured under license by GPA Helmets and are now being distributed. Although I have not had the chance to get my hands on one to test myself, the French motorcycle magazine Moto Magazine did (hint hint GPA). Basically, the magazine liked the helmet itself, it's well aired, comfortable and well soundproofed. But they do state that it takes a long time to get used to the mirror, specially since you need to angle your head in a very "strict" angle and once you "capture" the traffic behind you, you loose 10/ths of seconds understanding it. In their opinion, it takes too long to see what's going on behind you. They feel that this innovative helmet is more of interest when you're stopped to admire the scenery (or pillion passenger) behind you. I'll need to try out the helmet before I pass any real judgment on it.... The motorcycle helmet costs 349 Euros here in France. Click here to access the GPA web site.
