Scanning the headlines from all my news aggregators for motorcycle related stories (something I need to do multiple times a day in order to entertain you folks), I currently have to wade through 100's of headlines related to some American celebrity who has had a motorcycle accident. Ben Roethlisberger is apparently an American football star, much respected as a player in the US, but stupid enough to go riding on a motorcycle without a helmet (I mean, here's a guy who uses a helmet for his sport, but doesn't wear one when riding a motorcycle....). Now, after his mishap (and let's face it, this can happen to any of us), all news stories are full of his accident, his recovery and the all consuming debates about riding motorcycles (safe or not, stupid or not), helmets (do you really need them) and the celebrity role model (should they ride motorcycles or not). GIVE ME A BREAK !!!! There have been 1000's of accidents since then, many lethal, but the media is having a field day with this guy. I don't think there's a newspaper in the States that has not written at least 3 articles about the player. How am I supposed to do my job ?? This guy has had more media coverage than when Arnold Schwarzenegger {link} has his motorcycle accident. Stop milking this !!
