After yesterday's articles on the one single motorcycle accident by a celebrity that caused the internet news to be flooded by opinions on why motorcycles are dangerous, and why people who ride them are stupid, etc, we at Bikes in the Fast Lane decided to go onto the offensive. Motorcycles are no less safe than any other passion (apart maybe from knitting), but accidents do happen! However, the number of accidents that do happen on motorcycles are far less than what the "experts" and "talking heads" make them out to be. It's just when a celebrity does fall from his or her motorcycle, they make a big deal about it. It's just too easy for them. How often do you hear about a celebrity who crashes a car ?? So, at great financial expense to our site, we've tapped into several real-time Police and Government databases, traffic monitoring systems and motorcycle clubs. From these gathered statistics, we've set our own number crunching computer system (a Radio Shack TRS80) and extracted some real motorcycle riding statistics. Now you can see the true story on motorcycle riding and their associated accidents. Worldwide Real-time Statistics: The following statistics are in real-time, and are worldwide. Some are based on an hourly average, some on a daily average: | Number of Motorcycles arriving safe at destination: | | /hour | | Number of Accidents: | | /day | | Number of Fatal Accidents: | | /day | | Number of Happy Motorcycle riders: | | /hour | As you can see, the statistics don't lie ! So go out there and ride your motorcycle, and be safe !! Shiny side up !
