France: Motorcycle Technical Control Coming 19 June 2007   File under  Safety   Author: Mike Werner   Location: Normandy, France Much like in the UK, France are planning to have a MOT-like technical control on all motorcycles over a certain age. According to the MAIDS report, 5% of all motorcycle accidents are due to technical malfunction (mostly brakes not working). To minimize this, an annual technical inspection of the motorcycle should (in theory) catch this. In real life, it means that you need to bring your motorcycle to an official testing station, pay good money for a test that doesn't really do anything. At the end of the day you lose money and time for nothing. Let's hope they decide not to do this.
