USA based consumer satisfaction group, J.D. Power and Associates, have conducted their annual survey amongst motorcycle riders for their satisfaction with helmets. 5,476 bikers were surveyed last year when buying a new (2005) motorcycle helmet. From the 1,000 points a helmet can receive, Japanese Arai scored the highest with 814 points, followed very closely by Scorpion with 813. This is the 8th consecutive year that Arai scores the highest !! The points are awarded for not only the comfort, fit and air flow of the helmet, but also customer satisfaction in terms of excellence and experience. Here's the chart with the final results: Internet Usage The survey also finds that 29% of the helmet shoppers use the internet to find out more about their potential helmets (up from 9% in 2002). However, 70% of the bikers buy the helmet from a dealer, since they are, rightfully so, worried about the right fit. What's interesting in these figures is in our experience the helmet manufacturers have not caught on to this "internet" thing. They have been slow to work with internet sites to promote their products, preferring the old-media over the "net". Many of our emails sent to motorcycle helmet manufacturers have been unanswered. Maybe this report will wake them up, and have them realize that they have a good information distribution platform. When a news website like ours contact you for information about certain of your products, just answer the email !!!! Click here to read the whole report.
