Triumph evDaytona electrical motorcycle
Triumph Open link in a new window now have an electric version of their Daytona, but it's not made by Triumph, and you'll not find it in their product catalog. Built by GoWheel.com Open link in a new window, makers of special battery packs for electrical vehicles, the evDaytona as it is known, can be bought as is, or in kit.

The avDaytona can reach speeds in excess of 103 mph (165 kph), and has an amazing acceleration of 2.7 seconds to reach 60 mph from 0. Very impressive considering that the motorcycle weighs around 491 pounds (223 kg), depending on the battery packs used.

You can cruise at 93 mph and in economy mode you can ride for 143 miles before you need to recharge. If you plan to ride the motorcycle in town, do a wheelie or two, plan on 49 mile range. The batteries are meant to last 5 years or 114,000 miles, which ever comes first.

The windscreen got changed and made larger to cut wind drag.

So, in order to save money on gas and help the world with the oil dependency crisis I have to be rich and purchase a vehicle that has a price tag worth 1/2 of what I spent for my house. I don't think so!

Good concept. Way overpriced. The world isn't full of Jay Leno's. I've had 3 Daytonas. I can buy a new original Triumph Daytona 675 for everyone in my family for that price. In fact, the actual Daytona gets 40+ miles per gallon. It doesn't really need improvement in that area. A conversion for my 1968 455ci Oldsmobile (ten miles per gallon) would be more impressive.
