World biggest motorcycle race, the beach race of Le Touquet, France will be held again next year 2007. Called the Le Touquet Enduropale  , the race is becoming increasing popular (considering it's over 30 years old), both with the riders and the general public (with up to 500,000 viewers). The race was started by the same person who dreamed up the famous Paris-Dakar race; Thierry Sabine.
This year the organizers foresee a rapid registration of motorcycle riders from all corners of the globe. Since we've recieved quite some emails asking for more information, in order to help you make up your mind so that you can plan your trip, here's some information.
Enduropale 2007
The crazy beach race will be held on Sunday, 11th of February 2007. The quad race is on Saturday.
The track is 15.5 kilometers long, with different levels of technical difficulties. The 1,000 motorcycles will start around 13:00 on Sunday, and speed all the way along the 15.5 kilometers towards the holeshot. After the long straight, you've got three hours of racing along the track.
Registration
Registration start October 2nd. If you register before the 10th of December, you'll pay €220, after the 10th (if there is any space left), it'll cost you €250.
For that money, you'll be racing alongside big names such as Cyril Despres, Arnaud Demeester, Jean-Claude Mousse and the Potisek brothers.
Prize Money
As with any race, you can win money....last year they were:
1st Scratch: 4,600€
2nd: Scratch: 1,500€
3rd: Scratch: 760€
4th: Scratch: 460€
5th Scratch: 300€
6th Scratch: 150€
+Holeshot: 1,500€
Accommodation
Like last year, the hotels fill up rapidly. There are a fair number of hotels available in the city of Le Touquet, differing in standard and price, but if you're planning on attending, better reserve a hotel now.
