It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but the German Police in Hamburg is trying out 20 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide (FLHTPI )motorcycles to replace their current BMW RTs. The Harley are on a free trial to the police, and should, if the trial is successful, replace their 30 BMW motorcycles.
Harley-Davidson motorcycles have been used by police forces around the world (some 45 countries) for over 90 years, but this would be the first time they are used in the country that manufacturers the famous BMW bikes !
I guess when you are offered free motorcycles, you don't say no ! The trial will last a year, so we'll see what kind of political pressure BMW can mount.....
