Founded in 1927, the British Army's Royal Signals White Helmets are one of the most (if not THE most) famous motorcycle display teams in the world. Consisting of 30 volunteers, these soldiers tour the U.K. from April to September every year, demonstrating all those things you shouldn't do at home on a motorcycle.... During their winter time training, the soldiers need to qualify to earn the coveted white helmet, the trademark of the unit. Training The initial training takes up two weeks in November. Called the Induction Course, it represents learning basic motorcycle riding skills, aimed at boosting confidence. The 2nd week the trainees start riding their special Triumph 750cc Millennium display motorcycles. The same tricks are practiced over and over again, until they reach a suitable standard. The unit is given one leave per year, and that's between Christmas and New Year (so I don't think there will be many married soldiers in the unit ;-). Afterwards, the unit resumes training at their Training Camp. They continue their gruelling training until April when the team hits the road (not literally) for their show until September.
