After the article on the new Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle last week {link}, I found this tour operator; Shanti Travel. It looks like a French outfit (their website is in French), and they offer some incredible adventure rides on Enfield motorcycles !! From the photos on their very professional website, I'd say these holidays are incredible for any aspiring motorcycle adventurer. Travel like Ewan McGregor, i.e., adventure riding without the hassle ! Travel with a cook, a mechanic, a guide, backup truck with spares... etc. Feel like a star on an adventure ride ! One of their packages is riding the Himalayas on an Enfield 500. This 15 day tour gets you riding the mythical Enfield motorcycle up and down the mountains, up to an altitude of 5600 meters (18,000 feet). The total length of the adventure ride is 1,500 kms (950 miles). They have a maximum of 12 riders, and you are followed by a truck with your luggage, a cook, and most important, a mechanic. Obviously, there's also a tour guide. If you or a passenger don't want to ride a motorcycle for a specific period, you can hop on the truck. You are expected to have a good knowledge of off-road riding, so no beginners. Price is about € 1300. Click here to read about it (in French). Or you can try their desert to mountains adventure ride. This tour is easier, and can be done by novices. In 15 days you'll be riding some 1500 kilometers on an Enfield 350. As with the other tour, you'll be followed by a truck containing your luggage and a mechanic. Price is about € 1200. Click here to read about it (in French) This seems like a nice holiday to me. You get a great chance of discovering a great country (sub continent) riding a mythical motorcycle, while you don't need to carry you luggage with you, not do you need to be afraid what happens if you get stuck with a broken motorcycle. My only question is why their website is only in French....their prices are quite affordable, so it should be of interest to all. Click here to access their slideshow. Click under Activites on the Moto Enfield for a slideshow of their trips. Nice photos !! Click here to access there website.
