I knew things were tough and dangerous in Thailand, but put bullet proof screens and armor on the famous (or notorious) Tuk-Tuks is something I would not have imagined. Defense contractor, Precipart, Thailand's (and world largest) rubber bullet manufacturer, are looking at producing bullet proof motorcycles and sidecars to protect the Buddhist monks during their morning alms in the mostly Muslim areas of Thailand. Over the last 21 months, some 900 people (many of them monks) were killed. The monks would be expected to sit in the Tuk Tuk or sidecar, and open the little sliding door to receive the alms and give them blessings. A bit like the Pope, without the alms... In the same way, Precipart are looking at equipping motorcycles with attacker immobilizers. Press a button, and a net shoots out over the attacker, hopefully immobilizing him. Precipart are hoping to equip Thailand's security forces with this device, that can be used stand-alone or on a motorcycle. This would come in quite handy when riding through Parisian traffic and the pedestrians try to get away...
