The 2003 International Motorcycle Design Awards were held on September the 25th in Paris at the International Motorcycle Exhibition "Mondial du Deux Roux".
Motorcycle designers from all over the world attended this prestigous event, hosted by the
Motorcycle Design Association. Designs of new and concept motorcycles were voted on, and on the 26th of September in front of the gathered press, awarded.
The Awards
Supersport
In the Supersport Category, the top three awards went to:
1. Yamaha YZF-1000 R1
2. Aprilia RSV Mille
3. Kawasaki ZX-10
Open Category
In the Open Motorcycles Category, the awards went to:
1. Derbi GPR Nuda
2. shared 2nd place: Mondial Nuda and Triumph Rocket III
3. Yamaha FZ6 Fazer
Scooters and Commuters
The Scooters and Commuters top three awards went to the following manufacturers:
1. Gilera Nexus
2. Peugeot Ludix
3. Aprilia Leonardo Ditech
Concept Bike
The Concept Motorcycle Category top three awards went to the following manufacturers:
1. Yamaha MT-03
2. Dodge Tomahawk
3. shared 3rd place; Voxan Black Magic / Melly Blue Rage
Overal Winner
And the overall winner of the 2003 Motorcycle Design Trophy is:
Yamaha YZF 1000 R1
