English Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) have published some interesting statistics with regards to women and motorcycles in the United Kingdom. The positive trend seems to be repeating, as more and more women ride motorcycles. The more the better ! According to the MCIA, out of the 5.5 million motorcycle/scooter riders in the UK, 15 % are female;- this means some 750,000 female bikers ! 20% ride Supersports motorcycles 18% ride Sport/Tourer motorcycles 14% ride Customs 11% ride Off-road bikes 7% ride Touring motorcycles However, female riders ride slightly less than men; the English biker ladies ride an average of 3,450 miles per year, while 2/3 use their motorcycles 3 times per week (1/3 uses them every day). 70% use their motorcycle/scooter all year round. In the UK, there's even a specialized motorcycle course designed for females (Girls Angels). Would be interesting to see similar data on other countries....There is a larger than normal representation of women in Motorcycle Blogs on the internet. If you check the Motorcycle Blogroll on your right (towards the middle/bottom of the page), you'll see that a large portion are female owned ! Source: MCIA
