The European Union, by means of Jacques Barrot, Vice President of the Transport Commission, are proposing a new law for all of Europe. The proposed law is supposed to be a compromise between the "wants" and "wants-not" for Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
Several European countries already have a law that mandates all vehicles to use lights, even during the daytime, but for those countries that do not (like France), the motorcycle associations say it creates more dangerous situations for us on the road. If everyone has their lights on, you can not distinguish a motorcyclist who might be trying to overtake you.
So Jacques Barrot, in his "wisdom", wants all cars to have their lights on during daytime, except they will not be any old light, they have to be special lights that the manufacturers will need to install on new cars !!
So all manufacturers selling cars in Europe need to not only equip their cars with dim, normal, high, rear drive, blinkers and fog lights, but now also they'll need to install daytime lights !
I'd like to have some of the stuff he's been smoking.... it certainly looks like good shit !! But the law isn't !!
