(Pun intended with the title).. Here's a very interesting product, that will increase your safety margin, reduce your gas cost and not break the bank! French manufacturer, LDL-Technology, have come out with a product called "Tire Watch".

Tire Watch Transmitter
Tire Watch is a little gadget that gets mounted inside the air chamber of your motorcycle tires, replacing the current valve (8.5mm or 11.5mm). This little gizmo measures constantly the air pressure and temperature inside the tire and transmits the data wireless to a LCD display mounted on your motorcycle.

The transmitter works in the UHF frequency band, and will transmit at 434 Mhz in Europe and at 315 Mhz in the USA and Japan.

The unit transmit in real-time the data, including a unique code for that unit (so that if you're riding next to someone equipped with a similar device, you'll get YOUR data, not the others).

The battery will last 5 years, probably longer that your tires....

To ensure that you motorcycle tire is not unbalanced, the gizmo only ways 26 grams (0.92 ounces).

Tire Watch Receiver
The receiver is battery based (they claim 2 years before you need to replace the battery), and can be installed wherever you want, but it would obviously be well placed if it sat on your handlebar! Apart from the tires' pressure and temperature, the current time AND outside temperature are displayed. The buttons on the side are multi-function, and allow you to choose to monitor pressure or temperature, set alarm values (the unit will warn you with a blinking led when the air pressure arrives at a preset value), turn on/off the backlight, etc.

Price: €299. No distributors outside of France as of yet.

This is a very interesting product. It's not that expensive, and just alone, keeping your air pressure correct inside your tires can safe 8% of your fuel bill and 20% of your tire costs. And we'll not mention safety.....
