The folks at Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati, decided it would be a great experience to test the speed of the Ducati 999F04.
Since the Ducati is one of the fastest race motorcycles in existance at this moment, what better sparring partner than Lockheed's F104 Starfighter; an honest to God fighter airplane!!
Ok, maybe it's not an F18, but it's still a "double the speed of sound" jet fighter.
With world champion James Toseland riding the Ducati, and Major Aurelio "Ali" Covotta "riding" the F104, the duel was set.
So on October the 25th, both started their race.....
I will not spoil your fun with "who won what", but needlles to say, the photos published at Ducati.com are spectacular.
You'll find a whole gallery of photos and comments starting at the briefing upto the end of the race.
I guess these are some of the advantages of being a world champion !
