Earlier we've reported on the Paris City Hall plans to stop motorcycles from parking on the sidewalk and use normal car spaces. This was met by several successful protests by the motorcycle associations {link}. It now looks like the motorcycle protests paid off. The "Marie de Paris" (city hall) are now looking at installing many more than the previously planned 1000 motorcycle parkings/year. The Marie have realized that the number of motorcyclists are increasing dramatically over the last few years. The person responsible for city planning even went on a motorcycle ride (as pillion) through the streets of Paris to see what life looks like as a biker. They are now planning a survey to see what the Parisians think and want. If approved, the City Hall will roll out motorcycle parking at a higher rate than planned. Score 1-0 for the motorcycle associations (FFMC). Now to win the battle about daylight running lights {link}. This is very good. The sidewalk parking was always one of the strong points we bikers in France had going for us. Let's hope that we get to keep our rights....
