Once in a while there's a great motorcycle product. Spanish motorcycle lock manufacturer, Luma, had already recently {link} launched their very nifty footpeg lock, the Xmart.
Xmart is smart ... a very good word for a very good idea. Instead of placing a wheel lock inside your topcase or some other compartment in your motorcycle, you replace your left foot peg with the Xmart lock.
When you park your motorcycle, you just remove your footpeg and place it on your motorcycle wheel.
No need to go looking for your lock, it's right below you.
It serves two purposes; 1) a thief who does manage to cut through the disc lock still can't really ride away with your motorcycle since there's not footpeg, and 2) you can't ride away without forgetting to remove the disc lock (admit it.... it has happened to you ..).
Now Luma are producing a right foot peg. This for the esthetics conscious biker who wants both footpegs to look alike. You can now buy a matching foot peg. And surprise; it's not just a foot peg, but also a lock. So if you're really paranoid, you can now lock both front and rear.
The Xmart is available for most popular motorcycle models from manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW and Ducati.
To me, this is the "egg of Columbus", so basic, but so powerful, it surprises me that it's only now that we see this product. On top of the fact that this is handy, it's good looking !
