As many readers will now, I have a fascination for the Dakar enduro rally. It's not only one of those really tough races, were you are challenged by nature, navigation, sleep, but also were you can compete against "the legends", ie, against the professionals. There are many first timers (read amateurs or private entries) competing, and in most cases, their struggles are far more intense than for the pros. Here's one team that falls in the private entries. English riders Mick Tomkinson and mechanic Gordon MacPherson are taking part in the incredible race with a KTM 660. This is Mick's first Dakar. Apart from the high budget you need, you also need to do a lot of work before you can start. Preparing your motorcycle is one obvious one, but also preparing yourself physically and emotionally. This is one very time-consuming effort. That is why I like to see the private entries do well, at the very least make it to Dakar with themselves and their motorcycle intact ! Good luck lads. Hope to see you enroute ! Go on you for participating !! Click here to visit their website and leave some encouragement...
