You can trust the Dutch to find a way of making some money out of misery... well, in this case traffic misery. The Netherlands, like most European countries are plagued by speeding fines. The national governments have all tasked their Law Enforcement Agencies to fine almost any excess in speeds, be it cars, be it motorcycles.
Riding your motorcycles is fun, but you'll quite easily get fined for just 10 kilometers per hour (6.2 mph) over the limit. And these small fines will start adding up.
Well, a Dutch company has started a Speeding Fine Gift Certificate service. You don't know what to ask for Christmas ? Don't know what do buy your friend/spouse/relative for their special day ? Here's a quick way out. Buy a Gift Certificate that can be used to pay their speeding fines.
The whole operation is done via the Internet. You order your gift certificate on-line. When you've received the gift certificate, you enter the special number on the certificate, and your speeding fine number directly into the web site. They take care of the rest.
Who said speeding fines are dull ?? If this service existed in France, they'd have one hell of a client in me....
