From all the teams and individual Dakar motorcycle entries, here's probably one of the most competitive persons I've seen enter the race. South African born Kevin Heath is riding for the USA Dakar team on a KTM motorcycle.
Kevin not only competes on motorcycles (Baja 500 and 1000, Off Road Moto X Grand Prix), mountain bikes (Kamikaze Downhill race), race cars (Formula Ford, Formula Atlantic, Barber Saab Pro Road Race series), go karts (125 shifter and the HPV 100 cc class), triathlon & marathons (Ironman lake Tahoe and Hawaii), but now he wants to take part in one of the toughest motorcycle enduro races, the Dakar.
His website for the Dakar rally is called "Kevin's Midlife Crisis", a name he could well deserve... The site is well laid out, with loads of interesting information. If you're interested in the Dakar race, it shows you all the things you need to do to prepare.
