Motorcycle holidays are usually seen as riding under bad conditions, camping in the wild, eating around a campfire, and the only clothes you bring are the ones you're wearing, even when you're gone for 4 weeks.
But it doesn't always need to be this way. Discovery Motorcycle Tours is an up-market motorcycle tours/holiday company organizing tours in exotic locations.
For example,you can comfortably tour Thailand on a BMW R1200GS, while your luggage is in a luxury sweeper car (your SWMBO may travel in the car as well). You'll be staying in top hotels, sea view - sauna - spa, eating at the best restaurants, all while being guided by experienced tour guides. Motorcycles are BMW R1200GS or F650GS.
Sounds like a great holiday to me. A 14 day ride through exotic Thailand will cost you UK£ 3,000 (including all costs locally, but excluding flight) for the rider, UK£ 1,300 for the pillion (if booked before the end of the year). You'll be travelling about 3,000 kms through forests, sandy beaches, mountains and small towns.
If you're not an experienced rider, or haven't been on a motorcycle for a while, you can opt for their pre-trip training, a one day training on the motorcycle you'll be riding on the tour. They'll be taking you through riding, emergency braking, bike control, etc.
A group will consist of a minimum of 6 riders, and a maximum of 12; The leader is the tour guide, and there's always a sweeper riding at the end. Plus, there's the support car following you. So you can't really get lost.
