| Read the special articles on Bluetooth and motorcycles: | Italian motorcycle helmet manufacturer, Nolan, have released last month their long expected Bluetooth offering. It looks like it made sense not rushing into the Bluetooth market, since they produced a well though out unit. Nolan's N-COM communicator is an add-on for Nolan's new N102 (flip up) and N42 (jet) helmet. The N-COM unit can be easily transferred over different helmets, so you can adapt the communicator from helmet to helmet. The N-COM comes in different flavors, a basic one without Bluetooth, allowing you to communicate with your wired-in GSM telephone and a wired intercom. The one with the largest number of options has a Bluetooth interface for your mobile telephone, and for communicating with your pillion using Bluetooth. And in between, there are different options, with our without Bluetooth. You chose the type of N-COM you want.
The N-COM comes with a "build it in" yourself kit. You place the micrphone and earphones yourself inside the helmet. Aparently, the operation is easy and can be done in minutes. Furthermore, Nolan delivers a "multimedia" wire that plugs into the N-COM and allows you to attach up to 3 different devices (music, GPS, Radar), using standard 3.5 mm pins. The optional Bluetooth module sits outside of the helmet, and controls pairing and volume.
