Roadog
Back in February, I wrote a spoof based on a photo I found on the "Net" of a strange, "Mad Max" looking motorcycle.

Little did I know that the person who built the motorcycle in fact builds these for a living. Thanks to Kim Scholer for pointing this out.

Gelbke
William (Wild Bill) Gelbke is an electronic engineer who previously worked for McDonnell Douglas and Hughes Aircraft. He then went and set up a motorcycle shop and started designing "special" motorcycles.

His most famous motorcycle (photos of it did the rounds of the internet) is the "Roadog", pictured above, consisting of the engine and powertrain of a Chevy Nova II truck, the modified differential of a one ton Chevy truck as the rear end of the bike, the brakes of a Corvette and it costs $ 40,000 to build. Weight; 3280 pounds and a cruising speed of 90 miles per hour. Two of these were built !

AutoFour
Another "motorcycle" William Gelbke built is the "Autofor".

Based on an in-line 4 cylinder BMC Leland engine, 1275 cc, the motorcycle can reach cruising speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, despite its more reasonable weight of 950 pounds.
