In an "interesting" political context, the OiLibya motorcycle rally of Tunisia will be held this year from the 1st of May until the 7th. Despite the current political turmoil, the rally is still on, and the organizers are highlighting the events, hoping that the rally will bring some needed entertainment and money to this region. This is the 30th year of this rally, and it will see as usual participants from all over the world attend. The rally is seen as a good training for the Dakar, since it involves the usual sand dunes and navigation exercises. To mark the "revolution" in Tunisia, all Tunisian riders are invited to attend for free. Others can book their rally before the 4th of March at a discounted price for the Enduro Cup, €2950 instead of €3400. If you're planning to race the FIM endorsed rally portion, count on €5300 if booked before the 4th of March, after that it's €6700. Sounds like a lot of money, but it's a lot cheaper than the Dakar, by far. The fee includes all meals, hotels, bivouac and insurance, but it does not include transportation (there are special tariffs for the boat and airplane), fuel and safety equipment (GPS, Sentinel and Iritrack). A boat carrying the vehicles and support cars will leave Marseilles, France on the 28th of April. Scrutineering will take place on the 29th and 30th, and the race starts on the 1st of May. Different race formats are available for beginners and seasoned racers. Click here for more information about the OiLibya Rally Of Tunisia .
