Four days to go..... Two Canadian women have entered the legendary Paris-Dakar race on a Bombardier Quad. They are not the first women to enter this grueling race, nor will they be the last (last year Swedish Annie Seel did very well, despite breaking her hand). Maryline Lambelin and Marie-Christine Paré are both entering their first Paris-Dakar rally. Both have extensive desert and racing experience. Lambelin has lived for years in the Northern Africa area, while Paré has been to the four corners of the earth as an Adventure rider. Racing on a Quad is not easy. In fact; I'd say it's as tough as riding a motorcycle, so hats off to these two young ladies. They have a web site, www.paris-dakar.ca (it's a pure "Flash" site). In the mean time, fellow UKGSer.com rider, Chris Emerson is having a tough time getting ready for the race. Battling French bureaucracy and regulations, non-deliveries, false promises, etc making it a very difficult race for this English private entry. On top of all that, he's doing it for charity. Read all about it on his site; www.DakarDiary.com.
