By definition, a motorcycle trike is weird, since it's a motorcycle, but also a car. You've got the disadvantages of a car (you can't split lanes), and the inconvenience of a motorcycle (you get wet when it rains). But they have advantages as well; you can carry more people and cargo, and since there's more space, when you customize your trike, you can really go to town.
So the end result is that you can see some really weird and wonderful trikes. A trike is a "vehicle" with three wheels, based on a motorcycle (but not necessary). It's very close to a quad, except it has only 3 wheels, but it's not a sidecar, which also has 3 wheels.
