Electric motorcycle designers come from two camps: 1) the ones that design an electric motorcycle based on traditional designs of their gas-guzzling counterparts, and 2) those that see electric motorcycles as a "Greenfield " design; a design from scratch without looking at what has been done in the past. The British made Agility Saietta falls in the latter category. It does not look like any traditional bike known to mankind (apart maybe from the Jaguar or Bull motorcycle ). The Agility Saietta was launched today at London's Carol Nash MCN Motorcycle Show . The Saietta name is phonetically based on the Italian Apennine dialect, meaning Thunderbolt. The electric bike has been designed for plug-and-play upgrades, hopefully making future technology advances easy to change on the bike. Like most electric motorcycles, it has an incredible torque and low center of gravity. The Saietta is lightweight thanks to the composite materials used. The Saietta will be initially offered in two models, the Saietta S and Saietta R. Depending on your riding style (aggressive or easy going), the range will be between 50 and 100 miles on one charge. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds for the "S" version, and less than 4 seconds for the "R" version. According to the press release, the bike is now available, and costs UK£9975 for the "S" and UK£13975. Of course you need to "understand" the new style & design, it's not a motorcycle for everyone, but I'm sure there are going to be a few takers out there.
