Last Thursday (13 May) an airplane crashed during the landing stage at Libya's main airport in Tripoli. The Airbus A330 from the low cost operator Afriqiyah Airways was flying in from South Africa. Apart from one little Dutch boy, all remaining 103 passengers and crew members died in the crash. One of the passengers, and only French person, was 32 year old Emilie Poucan. Emilie, for those of you who don't know her, was the person who looked after the press for the Dakar rally. Since 2004, she has been responsible for the press at the famous race, making sure all journalists received information on a timely matter. Emilie was in South Africa to celebrate her 32 birthday. For the times I've had to deal with her, she was very professional and accommodating. I'm sorry to see this happen to her. ASO (the Dakar organizers) and the Dakar are in mourning. My thoughts go out to her family and friends.
