ACEM , the European Motorcycle Manufacturer's Association, announced today that Hendrik von Kuenheim takes over the helm of the Brussels based group from KTM's CEO Stefan Pierer. Von Kuenheim is the General Manager of BMW Motorrad. Von Kuenheim has been involved with ACEM since 2009 as the Vice President. He's got his role cut out for him, battling a financial/economical crisis, dwindling motorcycle sales in Europe and stricter government regulations. Mr von Kuenheim stated: “Our mission will consist in underlining and defending the specificities of an industry with deep roots in Europe’s economy. Despite harsh economic conditions ACEM manufacturers continue to be at the forefront of innovation for cleaner and safer mobility. However a thriving future for our industry can only be achieved with a realistic European legislation enabling the Motorcycle Industry to successfully compete on a global level”. Stefan Pierer will continue with ACEM as one of its Vice Presidents (the other being Leo Francesco Mercanti from the Piaggio group).
