The mind boggles at the non-motorcycle related ideas of this new invention, but let's stick to motorcycle gear. Aerostich has announced a new retrofit to their existing Roadcrafter and Darien suits. By adding this new electronic zipper, you can by pressing a button on a remote control, open or close the zipper. Sounds strange? For those of you who wear full gear, and ride your motorcycle long distance, you probably know the problem. You can start heating up in your suit, then cool down. Zippers in the front are easier to manage, and you can open and close them while riding, though more dangerous.
Vents along the arm and back and more difficult, if not impossible to operate while riding. For me to open or close the rear vents on my suit requires me to stop, take off the jacket and adjust. Not practical. The new miniature "Remote Control Zipper Sliders" are battery powered zippers. Using nanotechnology, the zippers are about 10% larger than the standard ones. New technology ain't cheap, count about $177 per zipper, plus $47 for the remote, but if you ride a lot in different temperatures, it could be a good investment. Plus think of all the laughs you'll get when you end up in the local biker bar, press the button, and all your clothes fall off... Click here to access Aerostich
