Usually after a motorcycle race many of the spectators go home all fired up from the race, and it shows in the speed they ride their motorcycles. This is something the cops know, and here in France, they plan for it. 1100 cops helped by some 20 mobile speed radars were installed around the circuit, trying to catch any of the 92,000 spectators that did not obey the laws. And catch'em they did: 76 driving licenses were taken away on the spot (meaning they were caught at twice the speed limit), 41 DUI and 52 riding under drugs influence. They haven't said how many were ticketed for speeding, but if already they caught 76 at impossible speeds, then you can be assured that the number of speeding tickets is in the hundreds. One police unit stated that they made 375 speeding photos over the 2 days. Personally, I can't understand these bikers. They know that the cops are out in full force, and still they ride as fast as they can.
